Advanced Doula Workshop: Fee $50 (8am-lunch)
This workshop would ideally be for doula's who have already attended a basic doula course AND attended hospital or home births, but all are welcome. This is NOT a basic doula course. You will need to come prepared with some knowledge of the birth world. We will cover hospital vs. home birth, prenatal work, challenging clients, labor (optimal fetal positioning, malpresentation, contraction patterns, signs of descent, back labor, etc.), long labors, complications, induction and augmentation, other interventions, aromatherapy, birth practices and breastfeeding, advanced comfort measures, and documentation.

Potluck lunch: Please bring a healthy dish to share with the group. During lunch we will be watching Baby Led Breastfeeding and other birthy videos.

Birth Assistant Workshop: Fee $50 (After lunch-5pm)
Prerequisite: You MUST attend the morning session. This workshop will equip birth assistants with the skills needed to be a valuable asset to the birth team. We will cover legalities, roles of each member of the birth team, expectations, supplies (mine and yours), set-up, clean-up, water birth, charting and paperwork, difference in home birth midwifery styles/practices, skills (heart tones, BP, pulse, temp., signs of exhaustion, assessing baby after birth, vaginal exams, etc.), emergency birth (what if baby arrives before midwife), neonatal resuscitation, complications (dystocia, me conium, pp hemorrhage, etc.), placentas, handling baby after birth, breastfeeding support, and a question and answer session. This will be a hands-on workshop! BA's interested
in hands-on skills can stay after 5pm.

Note: Attending this workshop does not guarantee becoming one of my birth assistants.
