Hi,   I'm the co-organizer of a Meetup group in Indianapolis, who has about 30 members who are also interested in this field.  I invite you to join us for any upcoming meetings and to engage in the conversations.  We have folks from all over the state, and many of them are also involved in many different meetup interests.  You can find this group at http://www.meetup.com/smallscale/

As for myself, I'm interested in hydroponics, aquaculture-specifically saltwater shrimp farming, and aquaponics.   I look forward learning more from each of you.

Just letting folks know I still monitor this group, though not much is going on I am always here to answer questions about aquaponics. I stay pretty busy doing Permaculture in Illinois and sure do miss my home State! Though I like the Kankakee river I sure do miss Sugar Creek and the Dunes area on Lake Michigan.

www.FreshTasteAquaponics.com is having a weekend workday event this weekend in TheCityof Chenoa starting with a Friday evening social followed by a workday all day Saturday and till whenever Sunday. We have been lucky enough to secure a couple cabins nearby to use Friday and Saturday evening. A good amount of food will be provided, please bring something to sleep on, snacks, and beverages. We will be building 5-7 90ft raised waterbeds, installing 1500ft of dura-pex hydronic tubing, and a good amount of plumbing to connect our 5,000 gallon fish tanks. Please message me if interested. This will be a great way to learn quite a bit about creating aquaponic systems and the benefits they provide in a Local Food System. If you are interested in helping us install a couple bee hives with bees and arriving around 3pm please message me for details.

So I have had this question several times asked to me. "Ernest, what can you grow in aquaponics?" and I hope to be answering that question in person this Earth Day at Porter Counties Earth Day Celebration and as well for the Save Muamee Watershed group on May 2nd http://agreenerindiana.com/profiles/blogs/what-can-you-grow-in-aqua...

Just getting ready for Northwest Indiana's Earth Day Event on Apr. 21st, 2012. The Aquaponics Association will be hosting a booth and will be bringing a live and mobile Aquaponics set up. Earl Ward, Co-Chair of the North Central Region of the Aquaponics Association, and Ernest Rando will be helping people to learn more about the opportunities in Aquaponics for Urban and rural Farmers alike. Earl Ward and Ernest Rando currently operate a small Aquaponics Farm in Gary, Indiana and are currently in the process of building a much larger facility in Central Illinois on the Route 66 corridor.

The Aquaponics Association is a recently started joint effort among many  individuals within regional aquaponics communities. The focus of the Aquaponics Association is education. We are happy to be here participating in Northwest Indiana and happy to be participating in AGreenerIndiana.

Here is a sneak preview of our set up. On YouTube
