About Me:
Filmmaker, Al Cloutier, has long been inspired by the celebration of natural food as a cornerstone of pleasure, culture, and community. He has been impressed by many of the farmers, artisans, chefs, and other culinary industry professionals around the world who are contributing to the “Slow Food” movement. His vision is to create a documentary that could capture the essence and spirit of sustainable food production. As a long time resident of Hawaii, deeply respectful of native Hawaiian culture and traditional values, he borrows heavily from these to help steer the film in historical context, pointing a return to a more balanced life in harmony with the “Aina”. A return to a natural balance with the Earth, coupled with innovative “green” technologies that can champion the change vital to our collective prosperity.

Eh howzit bra!
So my kane says you "one new friend on my wahine's website! Thats cool!" "I lived on the island of Kauai (Haena to Kilauea) from 1984-1994. Oh bra, what a ono time dat was. I arrived on dah island and moved onto an acre of land in the Manoa Valley in Haena. The soil was incredible for root crops due to its sandy nature. I grew daikon radish, leeks, carrots. I had bumper crops of brussel sprouts. I could walk out onto the reefs and catch bags full of nenue, moana, akole, aawa, all kine fish. What we did not eat I buried for future papaya and banana trees. The greens that we grew in Kileua town were da best. I spent a summer working for a farmer(biodynamics) Gary Gundersun, aka Mr. G's outside of Kilauea. He had one of the first organic ginger(all kind farm) crops. We grew greens, corn, citrus, ginger. Remember growing anything that fruit flys would not destroy. So, eh bra good luck with the documentary. If you get to the Big Island and run into Roger Christie, say howzit bra."
