About Me:
Building community & growing food for the Local Food System in this time of Transition without the use of chemical fertilizers or pesticides and with as little use of petrochemicals as possible!

I work in and with my community to grow food for my local food system, teach people about Aquaponics and Permaculture, and help others Transition into a Post Carbon world.

Three things help me each day: putting my fingers into the soil, learning how to seed, cultivate, harvest, & preserve food with friends, and the practice of The Gift Economy.

I use 10+ different Google Services on any particular day, I am also available for Google Service consulting (I am not a Google Employee)

Occupation: Permaculture + Aquaponics + Environmental Education (Urban-Rural) = Local Food Farmer and proud of it! You can also add Web 2.0 developer to the mix as well, if you would like to see how integrating Google Services like shared maps, calendars, docs, sites, & groups can increase the visibility and communication of your organization please contact me for a free consultation.

Yes, I do need your help.  Not sure where to go with this community.  I'll be in Valpo tonight speaking at the Opera House after the Carbon Nation movie.  If you're going, we could chat afterward.  If not, we should make time soon.

Thanks,

I am particularly concerned with e-waste. A lot of the componants still work and can be used in schools or churches or shipped overseas. Also they could be recycled. They are pretty toxic when they are landfilled and that is what happens to them mostly.

I also chuckled and wrote a blog post on this site about a 10 year old saving monroe county 25k by turning their computers off at night. It takes a 10 year old to see the obvious truth.

You are right...it is the small things that matter. I look forward to learning from your contributions to the site.

we are asking that all of the businesses that wish to use their logo as their icon will talk in specific terms about how their business is working to become greener. Several of the campgrounds that are members of the site have worked to institute a recycling program this year. Perhaps you could collect e-waste and make sure that it is disposed of properly?

Hopefully we can get some specific ways you are working to improve the environment with your business.

Take care

Gardening with Nature: That magical date

Although the last frost-free date varies year to year, you can pretty much count on May 15 as a reliable guide for warm season crops such as tomatoes, cucumbers and green beans.

Are mulch and potting soil bags recyclable?

With all the gardens being planted and flower beds being mulched, your question is quite timely

What are good eco-destinations for field trips for kids?

Suggestions for field trips for kids include Traders Point Creamery and Covanta.
