The Milk of Human Unkindness: Betraying Children With Every Glass

Hoosier Lawmakers and Indiana Coal

Nine of the 11 members of Indiana’s congressional delegation have sent a letter to President Obama asking him to kill a proposed regulation on coal-fired power plants.......“And "we the people” continue to pay every day the hidden costs in poor health, weather extreme disasters, food shortages, displaced populations, species loss. and so much more due to the activities of big coal, oil, gas, that just increases the bottom line of the greediest among humanity. They in turn use that blood…

INDOT, USACE fooling with feel good measures

Fooling with 'feel good measures,' mitigations reported recently regarding ecological destruction along I69 extension, and everywhere else.

Earth Day...isn't it every day?

If people are 'genuinely enthused about conservation and taking care of the planet,' stay home, plant a garden, plant a tree, ride a bike, take a walk, on 'Earth' day, rather than attending a long distance,  Earth day 'event', especially one sponsored by some of the largest polluters on Earth.

Save the Monarchs

MEXICO CITY (AP) — The number of Monarch butterflies making it to their winter refuge in Mexico dropped 59 percent this year, falling to the lowest level since comparable record-keeping began 20 years ago, scientists reported Wednesday.

"All three countries, United States, Canada, Mexico, need to face up to the fact that it is our collective activities that are killing the migratory phenomenon of the Monarch butterfly"

Birds, My Urban Wild Habitat, and 'Electrosmog'

Really, really missing our birds. I have been tracking wildlife, birds in our urban wildlife habitat for ten years now. This year, no Juncos, Titmouse left several moons ago, and never returned, same with Chickadees, Red Breast woodpeckers.  Hardly any Cardinals either.

I realize weather changes, continued drought mainly, could be to blame, as well as the decimation of thousands of trees by invasive, alien insects, man, but there could be another issue here, electrosmog.

Farming, a revised plan

old mic donal had a farm

he owed, he owed, he owed

and on that farm, he had some crude

he owed, he owed, he owed

he sold some land to the man

he owed, he owed, he owed

with a frac- frac here, and a frac-frac there

here a frac, there a frac, everywhere a frac, frac

old mic donal has a farm

he don't owe, he don't owe, he don't owe

with a poison well here, and poison land there

here some poison, there some poison,…

Indiana Shorelines at Peril

More seasons of fun in the sun at any one of Indiana's bountiful number of lakes could be in peril, at any time. Peril not just for the lucky few that  own lakefront property, but also for the ones that are considered the public, and have limited access to many public waters. I have noticed the impending peril for a long time, it  took this latest catastrophe  for me to look into it in more depth.

Recently a lakefront home burned, on Tippecanoe Lake. Now this is not just some small…

The Trouble with Turkey

I did not eat turkey on thanksgiving, did you? We are not planning to on Christmas either, unless it is a  free  range(organic)one from a reputable free range farm. With the recent news on another huge expansion of Huntingburg-based Farbest Food Inc. turkey processor, southwestern Indiana, it reminded me of POW.... Protect Our Woods alert several years ago about the  issue then of local  turkey CAFO expansion and the negatory effects on air, water, soil quality. Read it here on newest…

Shut Down Tar Sands

On the second day of arrests in front of White house.....45 arrested rallying against the Keystone XL pipeline. Plans call for the pipeline to stretch from the tar fields in Canada all the way to the Gulf of Mexico. Thomas Frank and his presentati on on East Chicago and BP’s Canadian Crude project.....tar sands processing unit at the…

That's right, it's like ol' Joe Friday used to say on Dragnet, "Just the flax ma'am."

Thank you for becoming a member of AGI, you are most welcome here. Feel free to make it your place and invite your friends to take a look and see what they think and if they would like to join.

What are your strong points in environmental awareness or curiousities? Is there a particular arena or field we could help empower you with? AGI has a staff that is able to offer full support and assistance in environmental work and issues, community and economic development, advertising, promotions, web design, and programming. Have a question or a request. Dont hesitate.

The idea here is to support you in helping to support communities and Indiana as a whole to make the change over to more sustainable practices and equilibrium.

Besides the resource based environmental arenas of: Land, Water, Air, Energy, Policy, and Advocacy. There are many other fields that are interconnected to sustainabiity and the green paradigm including recreation, health/wellness, agriculture, building and design, community development, economic development, products, arts, and humanities and many more.

You can share your awareness and activities in any of the above through many facets this site offers and more soon to come. Chat around, friend up like minded individuals, post, blog, make groups, are just some of the ways in which you may interact and utilize this site to tool your work and passions.

We are all in this together and together we can help make things better.
Kootoss to you for participating in this great work!
