New Book on Green Building Breakthrough

You can download a copy of a booklet called "engineering a sustainable world" that describes in detail how the engineering firm I worked for in Portland, Oregon designed the first and largest medical/university building in the country to receive a LEED Platinum award: www.ieice.com (scroll down to "New book on green building breakthrough"). There are numerous case studies on the same site as well.

It takes our community to solve our water problems. It takes many communities to solve global problems.

FYI :: Interesting Opportunity ::

Even if we optimize all water usage in the world, scientists assert that there still will not be enough freshwater to sustain every person on Earth by 2025.

But no one person can solve the global freshwater crisis alone, we have to do it together.

As concerned citizens and humans, we are searching for community members to participate in developing local, innovative solutions that address our part in… Continue

Green, Inc.

If some of you are like me,and have been duped by slick advertizing from the corporate likes of NWF(National Wildlife Federation),WWF(World Wildlife Fund), TNC(The Nature Conservancy), CI(Conservation International),by showing the cute photos of endangered species tagged on mugs, fleece, water bottles, umbrellas,packs,return labels, then you are in for a rude awakening. Green organizations are running as multinational corporations, than the shoestring non-profits they once were. NGOs once… Continue

A new ERA

Are the people ready for change in the United States of America? Overwhelmingly the answer is YES! With a newly elected Democratic President, Democratic controlled Senate, and HOUSE! WOW! If you cannot feel the roar resinating through DC, and the rest of the US you are not alive. So get yourself up from your bootstraps and change your community. If you are involved from an environmental standpoint, a cival rights position, or someone who is trying to bust through the bureaucracy be ready. If… Continue

Dear Uncle Sam

I demand redemption from the captivity your kingdom has imposed upon me. I hate the tyranny of capitalism and resent the expectations imposed on us to serve its arbitrary ends. I refuse to expend my limited energy resources to the pursuit of your barbaric monetary deity. I will not bow to your god or lend my hands to his service. I am content to live off of the discarded crumbs of your subjects and the gratuity of sympathetic strangers for my labors of love, but I would prefer above all to… Continue

Kleenex Tissue

We all know this brand made by Kimberly-Clark. What you may or may not know is that they use 100% Old growth Boarl Forest trees to make that tissue-toilet paper-paper towels....nothing recycled! I learned this through Greenpeace.I also know that the Boarl Forest has places where you can still drink water out of the stream safely.It really pisses me off to hear of the last pristeen places on Earth or North America for that matter,bein destroyed for profits of this company.So everyone PLEASE dont… Continue

The day we have been waiting for

Today our country will make history. Most likely we will see our first mixed President, or possibly a woman VP. What an amazing day!

Either way the anticipation mounts. We all have heard what they want to do, some unsightly mudslinging, and some words of inspiration from both sides. Who will win the battle? If you are following the polls you have a strong indication, but polls are not always right. So, Tonight as with every other election, I will be up watching the score. Maybe this… Continue
