Electric Vehicles for daily commuting!

Don’t get me wrong, I love hybrids. What I love most about the two hybrids we’ve had is just how often the gas engine is NOT running! It’s so quiet sitting at a stoplight without an idling engine or crusing down the road on only electric power. In fact, this got me thinking: why can’t I just buy an all-electric car?

I know what you’re thinking: electric cars are strange looking and slow, or they’re just too expensive (think Tesla!) Not true!! People have been converting normal… Continue

Michael Jackson & Galoway Kinnell

Michael Jackson's estate has chosen to bury the Indiana "King of Pop" in the "Promethean" casket which features 14-carat gold plated hardware and an exclusive double locking system. The interior of the casket is handcrafted by a master seamstress in Batesville, Indiana. The resulting casket is a tribute to the quality and craftsmanship of artisans in the areas of welding, polishing, metal working, and finishing fabrics.

This garish display of burial reminded me of a poem titled "The… Continue

GOING GREEN IN THE KITCHEN

Living a green life doesn’t mean you have to be a die-hard treehugger. A green life is as much about our health and well being as it is about the earth and our environment. A life with less disease and sickness through simple choices about the products we use and their impact on our bodies. We spend a lot of time at home in our kitchens. It’s the heart of the house and the one room we should consider when going green.

1. Use natural plant-based cleaners that do not contain harmful… Continue

The Green Nazis: Environmentalism in the Third Reich

Jurriaan Maessen

June 18, 2009

It has been elaborately pointed out how the device of environmentalism is especially favoured by tyrants as a means of controlling their subjects. The current ‘green’ movement, as we know, is no exception. It has been nurtured from its very conception as a systematic eugenics operation by the deep pockets of the Rockefeller- and Ford Foundations. Throughout the 20th century there have been multiple examples of tyrants implementing a very strict… Continue

Overall

As I prepared for my day out of the home office, I outfitted myself in a preppy white shirt, white cotton capris and a cabled turquoise sweater vest, it was at that moment that I changed my thinking about wardrobe. Lead a thought revolution. Choose America's fabric denim. Limiting our wash loads makes a Indiana Greener.

By the by... I am seeking a greener Indiana alternative to Tide if you have one. So, because a very wise woman said "new is for suckers" I went to the thrift store in… Continue

This is great!- Thanks to everyone involved!

I first learned of A Greener Indiana when I met - CEO Derek Reuter handing out cards at the Obama Community Meeting at Concord High School a few months ago. I had intended to sign up a long time ago, but I am so busy and it's just amazing how fast time flies.

Time is yet another limited nonrenewable resource that we must conserve with all of our might!

Thanks to Derek and everyone involved with this. It appears to be an excellent resource and we have much to do to help… Continue

Trees, not coupons

Is there a list I can get on so I do not receive junk mail? I would like to save a tree or more.

Barbara

Barbara,

Since many subscribers thought a particular piece from last week was about this topic, I thought now might be a good time to answer [...]

Meanwhile, back East

Renee,

I will continue to read your e-mails — but I’ve moved to Hartford area of Connecticut. I’ve VERY much enjoyed & will continue to follow your info & pass it on to friends & family still in Indy — and everywhere, for that matter.

My question: I can [...]

Breaking down the Covanta contract

Now that the city has awarded a contract to Covanta we have some questions for you:  Will we still be able to recycle glass and paper separately if we want to?
Will there be any receptacles available for this after the new contract takes over?  We really don’t feel [...]
