A Greener Indiana

Everybody can do something to make a greener Indiana

I went to a great garden party in Jasper to celebrate the www.sustainableindiana2016.org day of garden parties.  We were hosted by Living Roots Ecovillage.

What I learned that day far exceeded my expectations and really made me realize that farming in Indiana is changing as we speak.  I also saw first hand what happens when a group of smart and motivated people put their mind's to something.  This day really opened my eyes and will stick with me for a long time.

The garden we celebrated was in Jasper.  It was a very well thought out permaculture garden that was very dense with plants.  They sell produce grown from this garden and they also have a larger farm at another location.

The Garden is on a slope and features blueberries, fruit trees, fig trees, a hoop house, and past that they are growing corn, beans, and squash together.  They are growing tomatoes on a large scale.

They have a very nice sun dryer, plant starters, a solar oven, and all sorts of fun stuff.

They are growing Kiwi and they will climb up and encompass the structure on the right.  This group is very very industrious.

We had a wonderful dinner and here are some of the happy people that attended this very fun garden party.  Thank you all for putting this on and thanks to Living Roots Ecovillage and www.sustainableindiana2016.org for having this day of mass action.
