A Greener Indiana

Everybody can do something to make a greener Indiana

I went to a garden party and met new friends

(a better post exists on this by Ann Kreilkamp, the person that hosted the party.  check it out here)

In Bloomington, The Center for Sustainability participated in the www.sustainableindiana2016.org day of garden parties on 8-18-2012.  In a mass action, garden parties were held all over the state.

The party was very well attended and BOY IS THERE A LOT GOING ON IN BLOOMINGTON with regards to gardening and edible plants.  In attendance were a number of groups that are working hard to make Bloomington a better place to live and work.

The garden we celebrated was very thoughtfully constructed and very beautiful.  They gather all the rainwater from the house and it travels down a small ditch at the side of the house.

From there the water enters a pond, complete with fish and lillies, and cattails and other plants.

There are a variety of plants in the garden the plants did well in this dry year.

They have an awesome prototype planter that features a compost tube in the middle, an earthworm farm, and room for a lot of plants.  These may soon go into full scale production.

Thanks go to all for making this garden party a reality.
