My wife and I Just installed a 9.9Kw Solar array on our house in Indianapolis. Since going online August 16th it has produced 3060Kw! That has powered our house AND my electric car 2,721 miles to work and back.
The first car I purchased new was a 1984 Pontiac Sunbird. It got 24MPG and to go 2,721Mi, it would take 4,127Kw of gasoline!
Hello Rowan! I am president of a very small local nonprofit called Trash Force. We educate the public on recycling! We are trying to rebuild our membership, but it is not easy. We set up tables at small fairs and make signs for our county recycling drop-offs. We do hope to work with a few other groups in the area to hold an Earth Day Festival next spring!! Stay tuned...http://www.facebook.com/trashforce
I live in Fort Wayne, indiana. I operate a child care home and work for easter seals ARC to support myself. I will be closing on some property before the end of the year that will increase my land to approx 3 acres in the city. In my current yard I am trying to apply permaculture principles. The past two summers I have successfully evaded neighborhood code and have had a lovely living yard. Eventually, I plan to do the same with the adjacent property but there are some hurdles to jump first.
We have 6 acres near Marion. I had a very busy summer planting 500 trees and shrubs. I do a lot of vegetable gardening but really got into mushroom hunting this summer. We have been studying mushrooms for a couple of years as a food source and will be incorporating them on our property. I am also passionate about decreasing lawns and incorporating trees and shrubs not only for us but for birds and pollinators and other species.
Hey Rowan! I do not have any projects that I'm working on at the moment as I just wrapped up a semester studying abroad in Australia. I am really excited to start making a difference when I get back next semester. I go to school at Valparaiso University in Northwest Indiana so will hopefully get involved in some activities! I can help promote this group/movement around my school as a starter!
